Within the framework of APEC Peru 2024 and with a ceremony broadcast from the Government Palace, the inauguration of Puerto Chancay was held on November 14, an engineering work that will revolutionize trade with Asia.
The event was attended by President Dina Boluarte, the President of China, Xi Jinping, and the Minister of Transportation and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes. At the same time, in Chancay, the ceremony was attended by the Vice Minister of Transportation Ismael Sutta, local authorities and representatives of Cosco Shipping.
"This project represents a giant step towards the modernization of our logistics infrastructure and the strengthening of our position as a commercial hub in the South Pacific region," said the head of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications Raúl Pérez Reyes.
With an investment of more than $1.4 billion and the use of 27 specialized cranes, Chancay will receive deep-draft vessels and reduce transportation time to Asia by 10 days. This will allow Peruvian products to arrive in less time and at better prices, boosting key sectors such as fishing, manufacturing and foreign trade.
